This concept was introduced two years before the timeline of the first book, when vampires became known to the general public, with more supernatural beings introduced as the story progresses. The story includes components of mystery, romance, supernatural, and humor. It takes place in a different reality and history, where mythical beings are not at all mythical. The narrative is enhanced by magical powers and Harris’s version of fantastical creatures.
