Brian Jacques’s Redwall is a fantasy book series, consisting of 22 novels and two picture books. The Rogue Crew, the final book in the series was released on May 3rd, 2011. 

The book series spans several eras in the history of Redwall. This world comprises Mossflower Woods, Southward, and surrounding islands. Some of the books in the Redwall book series center on historical figures. The aspects of the book include magic and supernatural events.

The series takes place in medieval times, with the narration being done from the perspective of Matthias, the mouse warrior.

In the first installment, mice lead a peaceful existence in Redwall Abbey, when Cluny the Scourge and his legion of rats decide to break into the monastery. Scourge and his troops want to seize control of the area, but the residents won’t give up the land without a battle. The series explores the themes of the essence of bravery and the nature of wickedness and is suitable for middle-grade readers.

Movies based on the novels

Netflix announced an animated feature film adaptation in February 2021. It will be based on the first book in the series, with a script written by Patrick McHale.

Martin the Warrior (1993)
