He meets Lucy in the mental home and she unwittingly becomes his accomplice. The author has been involved with mental health for 20 years seeing friends suffering, and later after training as an advocate, making judgments as to whether a person is ready to re-join society. This same society that locked these patients up for life in years gone by, despite the fact that one in four of the population will suffer some form of mental distress in their lifetime. It is a fact that some extreme cases must be confined for life in places like Broadmoor.Brains are not like bones they cannot always be healed. Michael is such a man, rare, but it happens and the story explores the consequences.
