The Dragonlance Chronicles are a series of fantasy books created by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. This is the first set of Dragonlance novels, and it is followed by the Dragonlance Legends series. The series includes the following books: Dragons of Autumn Twilight (1984), Dragons of Winter Night (1985), Dragons of Spring Dawning (1985), and Dragons of Summer Flame (1995).

Because of the 12-part storyline, Hickman’s storyline was picked for the Dragonlance volumes. Hickman’s suggestion culminated in the Dragonlance Chronicles, which led to his involvement with Margaret Weis.

The Dragonlance Chronicles’ plot revolves around the “War of the Lance,” in which the Heroes of the Lance march to combat Verminaard, the lord of the draconians, and the dark goddess Takhisis.

The first book follows a group of lifelong friends embarking on a journey to become the Heroes of the Lance. A chance encounter forever changes their lives and shapes the fate of the world.

In the second book, the companions continue their quest to become Heroes of the Lance. They journey to Tarsis, which has been destroyed, and are divided into two groups. The former group is successful, and their nightmare is over. The latter group is assaulted as they flee and is stranded on an island with elves.

In the third novel, the group armed with dragonlances faces a deadly showdown with the evil dragons and Takhisis, the Queen of Darkness.

In the fourth and final novel, the war of the lance is long over, but the Dark Queen has found new champions and the balance starts to shift once again.
